The SportsBusiness Journal Forty Under 40 Awards program was initiated in 1999 by Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily to identify and honor the most promising young executives in sports business under the age of 40.

A committee of SportsBusiness Journal editors and writers select the forty executives from among hundreds of nominations received each year.  Winners wil be announced in the March 23, 2009, issue.

Banquet
The class of 2009 will be honored in Miami, Florida at our black-tie Forty Under 40 Awards Banquet on Friday, April 3rd at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami.

Leadership Retreat
Each June, all Forty Under 40 winners and their spouses are invited to the annual Forty Under 40 Leadership Retreat.  This annual gathering serves as a think-tank for our winners as they shape sports business in the years ahead.  The 2009 Forty Under 40 Leadership Retreat will be held Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday, June 25 at The Inn at Spanish Bay, Pebble Beach Resorts.  Past Retreat venues include (2007) The Cloister, Sea Island, Georgia and (2008) The Sanctuary, Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
